Pleated Fabric

Originally from Newcastle upon Tyne, I studied Performance Costume at Edinburgh College of Art where I gained a First Class BA (Hons) Degree.

Moving to London, I sought a career as a Theatre Designer, making costumes for multiple internationally renowned Contemporary Dance Choreographers on touring productions over the years. I also have extensive experience in designing, making, altering, and fitting costumes for Film, TV, and Theatre productions. I have made costumes for feature films such as Wonder Woman and James Bond, as well as TV shows such as Strictly Come Dancing and Downton Abbey. Over my career I have always had a strong ability to make a 2D idea into 3D reality, and so naturally I branched out to props and sets too over time.

Since moving back to Newcastle upon Tyne, I have worked on a variety of productions. I also developed mint + cole, a line of bold, graphic jewellery made from cork and brightly coloured laminate. Most recently, I have set up a children's costume business, Second Take Children's Costumes, in which I make costumes for children from second-hand and recycled garments and fabric. Through both my theatre design and creating costumes for sale, I am incredibly interested in using second-hand materials in my making, and have a partnership with a local charity through which I source cheap materials that would otherwise go to landfill.

With a very wide range of skills, from set building, hat making, corsetry, woodworking, puppetry, and props, I bring a wealth of knowledge to the table. E-mail me, or use the form on the Contact page for more.
